Riksförbundet för Folkmusik och Dans - RFoD - is a national organisation in the field of traditional music and dance RFoD organises musicians and dancers, both amateurs and professionals, artists and pedagogues and promotes creative use of traditional culture in new situations and with new kinds of expression RFoD wants to contribute to meetings between musicians and dancers from different countries and cultures and to make the traditional cultures in Sweden known outside our country. RFoD brings together executors of Swedish traditions and those of minorities and immigrants. RFoD wants to strengthen organisers of live events and increase their number. This is done by RFoD-fa, Folkmusikens arrangörsnät, a network within RFoD. RFoD works on several levels, both national and international, to emphasis the cultural politics of folk culture. RFoD cooperates with many culture organisations such as The Swedish Concert Institute (Rikskonserter), The Swedish Institute, The Swedish Council for Cultural Affairs (Statens Kulturråd), ABF, Vuxenskolan, the county councils and other national and local authorities. RFoD produces a magazine for its members, with 6 issues per year. Individual membership: 200 SEK, Subscription: 200 SEK. European Network of Traditional Music and Dance - RFoD is a member of this network, which with support from EU Culture 2000 has made a web site www.eurotradmusic.net, which is a portal for traditional music and dance in Europe, with a link directory, search engine and a "festival route".
